The 10 Biggest Lies We Believe as Truth and How to Break Free of Them

These lies held power over my life for far too long. Every thought, decision and action controlled by them. It wasn’t until I started working with a personal coach, that I was able to see them for what they are and realize their power was mine to reclaim. I had given it freely to them, and I was free to take it back at any time.

But that meant changing my life and it is a part of our natural human condition to fear change. But I’ve learned that the choice to change, to stop believing in the things that don’t serve our best life, is where true power lies . . . weight losing, dream chasing power . . . The kind that gets you where you want to be.

Lie #1 :: I Don’t Have Time
You are given the same 24 glorious hours every day as the rest of us. The real issue isn’t a lack of time, it is a lack of willingness to create what that time will be used for in your life. Even when you sacrifice 19 hours of those days to sleep, employment, meals and commuting, that leaves 5 hours open for creating something great. How many more of those hours are you going to give so frivolously to emails, cat videos on YouTube and boring television shows?
Lie #2 :: I Don’t Want To
You know that feeling when your entire body is physically in protest of doing something? When you get completely and emotionally upset over a thought, choice or idea? When you physically and emotionally respond to a choice, that’s your lizard brain fighting extra hard to keep you standing perfectly still (the physical response) because this is exactly the direction in which you should move and your heart knows it (the emotional response).

Why Diets Don’t Work

Maybe you have tried diets, shakes and weight loss pills in the past – only to have failed.

Recently a study into diets was published that showed that diets work for fewer than 10% of the people who use them, but also that the vast majority people who come off a diet end up putting on more weight than before they went on it.

There are over 20 000 published diets – and the world is fatter than it has ever been.

These diets tell you to not eat carbs, eat less fat, etc – but they miss the point – it’s not about the food!

We all know what foods we should be eating. But this is not enough to motivate us to make lasting chances to our diet, if it was we’d all be thin and healthy.


 

  Why Diets Don’t Work?

Reason No. 1

Your body wants to be fat because being fat is the best way to keep you safe!

Your mind is like a computer – it has it’s own software, which helps you organize your thinking and behaviour. All your problems stem from the same cause, negative programs running in the unconscious mind.

Once you realize your mind can work for you … or against you, you can learn to outsmart it, so it is working for you more often.

You can use EFT to remove the limiting beliefs and reprogram your internal computer – your unconscious mind – so you will change the way you think about food and feel better about yourself.


Reason No 2.

 

The more diets people try and fail at, the more they convince themselves that they will never be able to lose weight.

The only way to lose weight and keep it off, is to go to the unconscious mind and change your relationship with food forever. You simply have some unproductive habits – the good news is that once you learn how to reprogram your mind, it will be simple to develop new habits that will create a savvy, slim body.


Reason No 3.

Starving yourself can make you fat

 

What most diet books don’t tell you, is that the reason most diet programs don’t work – is nothing to do with you – it is to do with human biology.

Your body is programmed to protect you from the threats of a prehistoric world such as famine and being eaten.

Thankfully we don’t need to worry about these threats today …. But our bodies don’t know this.

The problem is that the stresses of modern day life produce chemical signals in our bodies and brain that are the exact same chemical signals that are produced when we are starving, so our bodies are tricked into thinking that we need to be fat in order to be safe.

If you’ve been trying to lose weight for a while, your body is probably in continual fat storage mode. It thinks there is a famine, and in response it goes into survival mode and stores fat in your cells, ‘just in case’. The way to lose weight is to de-activate these fat triggers


Reason No. 4

Stress is ruining your metabolism.

We live in a world where stress is epidemic. Stress signals the activation of the sympathetic nervous system. This causes hunger to increase, blood sugar to rise, digestion to slow down, and more. To make matters worse, not only does stress make you fatter, it causes you to gain a specific type of fat, around your belly, that generates more stress hormones, which leads to more weight gain. When we focus on our imperfections, this poor body image causes more stress, which slows down the metabolism even more … and causes more weight gain … and a vicious cycle of body loathing.


Reason No. 5

Low Fat eating is a lie.

Researchers are now discovering that artificial sweeteners may actually cause us to gain weight!

The artificial sweetener tricks the body so effectively, that it releases insulin into the bloodstream to metabolize the food. Since there is no real sugar for the insulin to act upon, it performs it’s secondary duty, which is to store fat!

So you see …. Diets don’t work ! Diets are about what you can’t have and what you must do . If you go on a diet sooner or later you will go off a diet.

Anyone can lose weight on a diet, 
but it’s like puling out a weed. 
 …. unless you pull out the root…. it come right back!
  
That is why you need to get to the underlying issues 
of WHY you are overweight 
because unless these are addressed and cleared, 
any attempt to lose weight will ultimately fail.

Diets only address the symptoms of overeating, 
like weight gain… 

They don’t work at changing you on the inside 

and until the inner you changes, the outer you 
remains the same

Tummy Fattening Foods To Avoid 

 
Dangerous Additives are secretly hiding in dozens of foods within your kitchen.
 
These additives can cause obesity and these are foods that you’re eating, and feeding to your family, each and every day.

Cereals – (even those advertised as healthy for children), crackers, breads, chips, pretzels, and pasta

MuesliI don’t know what it is about muesli that seems to lure in those of us in search of a ‘healthy’ breakfast option. Yes it does have healthy grains , however, add in oils, and corn syrup and our muesli just turned into a hip bulging breakfast

‘Lite’ or ‘Fat Free’ or ‘Diet’ foods many of these lite and fat free foods taste ok, but if you think about it,  you realize that in order to boost the flavour WHILE removing the fat, something else has to take its place.That’s Sugar! What appears to be a healthy option winds up being nothing more than a high calorie fat for carb swap.

Condimentstomato sauce, jelly, jams, syrups, gravies, and sauces

Dried, canned, and cured meats

Fruit juice and Soft Drinks – if you make a habit of drinking fruit juices and soft drinks, your blood sugar will spike and crash more than the Stock market! You see, the main problem with fruit juice is that it is a form of ‘liquid calories’. Go check how much sugar is in a serving of orange juice and a coca-cola, you might be shocked to see that it’s practically the same! 10-12 teaspoons of sugar in each!

Processed Foods and Takeaways – this speaks for itself !

 

Salad dressings – including many low-fat and fat-free versions

Eat whole , clean, unprocessed foods as much as possible.

No microwaved dinners, processed snacks, or sugars.

This is  simple ….  vegetables, fruits, and whole grains make you a happier healthy person.

 When you start eating foods that are healthy and natural, your entire life is going to change.

You will feel it in your energy, in your digestion, and in the fat melting off of your body.

  You are what you eat. Choosing to eat healthy, is choosing to BE healthy.

Stress changes the landscape of the brain and creates a physiological craving for substances ( such as food or alcohol)

 Recent studies have shown a potential link between high levels of cortisol and excess abdominal fat.

The theory is that dieting – which produces stress for most of us – increases cortisol levels.

 And for women who have dieted on and off again throughout life, they may end up looking more like “apples” than “pears” because of bigger waistlines that may be associated with high cortisol levels. 

Real health risks accompany excess fat in the abdomen – like increased chances of developing diabetes and even heart disease.

 A study published this month demonstrated that women who constantly restrict food (that is, who constantly diet) have higher levels of cortisol, and the researchers speculate that this may spell bad news for bone health. Other studies suggest cortisol levels may be a predictor of fractures for older adults.

Stress hormones aside, we also know that stress makes it harder for women to put their good intentions into action. It puts us on edge, sometimes making the least challenge something that causes us to mindlessly revert back to old, unhealthy habits.
Reducing Stress

So how do we achieve personal health goals without adding to our stress? Consider a healthy lifestyle approach that’s all about feeling great!

Feed yourself well.
Forget calories and fat grams. Instead, focus on feeding yourself balanced meals and snacks when you’re hungry and stopping when you’re satisfied. Most of us get hungry about every 3-5 hours, but if you’re not sure when you’re hungry and when you’re not, try putting yourself on a schedule that starts with breakfast and includes lunch and dinner and 2-3 snacks, if hungry. Also be sure to eat balanced meals that include Grains/Starchy Vegetables, Protein Foods and Fruits &/or Vegetables. If you’re particularly hungry between meals, make sure your snacks include Protein Foods, which may help you be better satisfied.

Give up notions about “good,” “bad,” and “forbidden” foods.
Bottom line: If we forbid a food, it often makes us want it more. So learn to eat all foods, and learn to tune in to what you really want, not just what you think you want because you “shouldn’t” have it.

Move your body regularly.
Yes, we’re talking about physical activity. There’s much more to physical activity than burning calories. It’s a tremendous stress reducer, and its feel-good benefits kick in almost immediately! Make your regular physical activity something you look forward to by coming up with fun ways to move your body. Try dancing, skiing, snowshoeing, gardening, playing catch with the kids. And, remember, you don’t need to devote long periods every day to physical activity.

Think positively about yourself and your body.
Starting to accept yourself now…just as you are…no matter whether you think you need to lose weight or get in better shape or whatever. Negative self-talk has tremendous power to knock us off track. By starting to support ourselves in our minds now, we help ourselves stay on track with our fitness efforts. Accepting yourself does not mean that there isn’t room for improvement. It just helps you treat yourself well so that you can better find your way to personal health goals.

Take time for yourself every day.
Whether it’s 10 minutes to reflect and relax, or whether it’s some fun activity that will revitalize you, it’s critical to do it! Make a list of activities that you really like and try to find time for at least one every day. Here are a few activities to get you thinking about what you can do to help yourself to regular “time-outs.”

Get a massage or foot-rub.
Send/buy yourself fresh flowers.
Listen to a relaxation audiotape.
Read for fun.
Take a long, relaxing bubble bath.
Do a crossword puzzle.
Take a walk on the beach.
Take a yoga class.
